Workflow doesn't work, Imports never happen, emails don't flow and Outlook clients cannot connect - Reloaded

Update 23 June 2008: See http://www.sadev.co.za/node/196 for an official way to do this.

In my previous post on Workflow doesn't work, Imports never happen, emails don't flow and Outlook clients cannot connect I went through the fix by changing SQL. I never liked that fix because it breaks rule one of MSCRM, never edit the database directly. It also has the high chance of screwing up your deployment (quote in the wrong place, or highlight skills lacking in SQL), so I finally found an offically supported tool which does the exact same thing: The IFD tool

What is great about the release version of the tool is it allows you to change those settings in a On Premise scenario only (the bottom set of items), so you don't need to suddenly switch to IFD with the tool to fix the issue. So definitely if you are having a problem, rather use the tool than the SQL statement.

Dear all, I tried to run workflows but it never worked the other things work or I did not try. (The Asynchronous Processing Service" runs after I started it manually). Imports never happen (I did not try) emails don't flow (works) Outlook clients cannot connect (no problem) Has anybody an idea if this tool could fix my problem, or any other idea? Best Torsten
The fact you need to start the async service could be related to the problem as it handles the workflows. What are the states of some of your workflows after you start the async service?
Actually since yesterday, the workflows run (after updating .net and other Windows Server updates) but only in my account and with a delay. My colleague has problems (it worked just once). Sometimes my crm browser windows close automaticly without any warning. If I use the outlook client with option syncronise with crm I get regularly breakdowns...
The running on only your account could be the workflow rules themselves. There is a setting to state if the workflow is only for a user or is universal. For it to run for everyone you must make sure it is universal. When you say delay, what does that mean? Workflow should have a slight delay depending on a number of factors. If you need immediate you need to look at plug-ins. Closing of the browser isn't related to the issue I found but the two common causes for it are browser bugs (in th browser or in an add-on. try upgrading to ie7, see if it still occurs. if it does try no-addon mode) or pop-up blockers. For th outlook client try run the diagnostic tool in the CRM program files menu to check all is setup right.

Hello,

watch out, the tool is not supported by Microsoft.
It's build by a support technician at Microsoft CRM.

There is a small bug in the tool:
- it doesn't configure the help vdir for anonymous access!

Cheers
